The Results

The result will either be negative, reactive or void.

A void result will mean you need to have another test.

A negative result means that you do not have antibodies against HIV in your blood. These can take up to 3 months to be produced, so if you have put yourself at risk of HIV during the last 3 months you may want to repeat the test in 3 months from date of possible exposure.

A reactive result means that the test has detected HIV antibodies in your blood and you may be HIV positive. There is however a 0.04% chance that the test produces a false positive result and therefore all reactive tests must be followed up by a confirmatory blood test at a clinic. We will advise you on where to have this done and help you make an appointment. We will then contact you in a few days to check on your progress.
